Hello and welcome to the website of Woodstock and Chipping Norton ( Woodchip ) Green Gym. We are an independent community group that is free to join and gets involved in conservation projects around the Chipping Norton and Woodstock areas. The group was originally set up by BTCV in April 2007 as part of a national scheme to encourage healthy exercise outdoors.
Since January 2009 we have operated as an independent group but still with support from BTCV. We have a number of regular commitments, such as helping to maintain the water meadows in Woodstock and our newly planted community orchard in Chipping Norton. There are opportunities to learn new skills – for example we have done dry stone walling in Chadlington and learned to prune young trees in the William Fowler Woodland in Chipping Norton.
We are a friendly, easy going group who welcome new volunteers. No prior skills or experience are necessary. A range of jobs are available and all abilities are welcome. The aim is to have fun, get some exercise and fresh air while helping to care for the environment. We normally meet on Wednesday mornings (10am-1pm). Lifts may be available for those who cannot easily get to the worksites.
