October 2012

We hope to repeat two events which were very successful last October.
At the autumn Fair in Chipping Norton we manned a stall displaying all the types of apple in our recently planted community orchard. And we had an expert on hand to identify fruit which people brought from their own gardens. We shall probably be in the arcade again next October so that is a chance to talk to us about Green Gym as well as the orchard. Come and meet us there!
We shall also be holding an APPLE DAY again at our new Community Orchard on the edge of Chipping Norton Common. A fun day for all the family. Take a look at the planting, identify trees, taste orchard products, games for the children, and the Kings Stone Mummers will be ‘blessing’ our trees again in traditional style with music and dancing. All for free!
Exact dates will be notified nearer the time.
May 2012: We also hope to hold a community day in May for the first time, to admire the blossom – apple, pear, plums and even quince, medlar and mulberry. More details nearer the time.
Any time: Everyone is welcome to visit the orchard at any time. It is off the Worcester Road (A44), near the Cemetery (OX7 5XS). Turn up the tree-lined avenue marked ‘Elmsfield Farm’ next to the Cemetery. Or walk across the Common from the Recreation Ground, down to the stream and up the other side.
