Welcome
Hello and welcome to the website of Woodstock and Chipping Norton ( Woodchip ) Green Gym. We are an independent community group involved in conservation projects around the Chipping Norton and Woodstock areas. The group was originally set up by BTCV (The British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) in April 2007 as part of a national scheme to encourage healthy exercise outdoors.
Since January 2009 we have operated as an independent group but still with support from BTCV. We have a number of regular commitments, such as helping to maintain the water meadows in Woodstock and common land in Chipping Norton, but there is also the opportunity to learn new skills - for example we have done dry stone walling in Cassington and learned to prune young trees in the William Fowler Woodland in Chipping Norton.
We are a friendly, easy going group who welcome new volunteers. No prior skills or experience are necessary. A range of jobs are available and all abilities are welcome. The aim is to have fun, get some exercise and fresh air while helping to care for the environment. We meet on Wednesday mornings (10am-1pm). Lifts may be available for those who cannot easily get to the worksites.
If you are interested in joining us please contact Jenny Harrington on 01608 643269 or by email jennyharrington@btinternet.com.
